Creative Swansea Summer – Coding/Game design Workshop (9-15years)
Swansea has a great deal of creative talent and many people working in the creative industries, very successfully.
This summer we are offering the following FREE activities for 9-15year olds, to do our bit to inspire curiosity and nurture future talent.
CODING WORKSHOP

What: An interactive coding and game design workshop with Mark Keleher (TechnoCamps)
Where: Swansea University/ Technocamps
When: Tuesday 11th August 2026
Time: 12:30-3:30pm
Tickets are FREE but limited and booking is essential.
Ever wanted to create a game like Super Mario or Sonic? In this awesome workshop, you will step into the shoes of a real game designer and code your very own retro 2D platformer from scratch using MakeCode Arcade!
You’ll get to design your own custom main character, build an epic world full of secret platforms, and program crazy mechanics like gravity, jumping, and custom animations. Add collectibles, sound effects, and win/lose conditions to challenge your friends and see who can beat the ultimate level you created!
Mark graduated from Southampton University with a 2:1 in Geography BSc. He went on to gain a PGCE in Primary education from Swansea University and has taught for the last 27 years.
He enjoys designing and crafting things from scrap, and he has a keen interest in exploring Gower and researching information about its exciting and eventful past. He has spent the past 3 years working with Technocamps, providing workshops on all things digital, and training teachers across South Wales to do the same.
