Dr David Bird is a creative technologist, composer, and producer based in Swansea, specialising in immersive audio, spatial sound, live production, and creative technology. His work combines creative research with industry collaboration across higher education, festivals, film, live events, and cultural organisations.
\nWith over 18 years\u2019 experience in audio production and creative technology, David works across multichannel sound, Dolby Atmos, sound design, creative coding, and experimental audio practices. His projects range from immersive screenings and sound installations to festival production, film audio, and public engagement work exploring sound, technology, and wellbeing.
\nDavid is Lecturer in Creative Music Technology at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, where he develops industry-facing opportunities that connect students with festivals, venues, and creative organisations across South Wales. He has established collaborative partnerships with organisations including Swansea Fringe Festival and Swansea Arena, helping create real-world production experiences and pathways into employment for emerging creative talent.
\nAlongside teaching and research, David has delivered audio production and immersive sound projects for film, performance, and public events, with work presented internationally at festivals and cultural venues. He has also contributed to collaborative community and wellbeing-focused projects, including sound installations developed in partnership with healthcare professionals, artists, and local organisations.
