Gothic Decay

I am a contemporary textile artist based in South Wales, creating original embroidered artworks that explore memory, abandonment, environmental change and the traces people leave behind.
Working with hand and machine embroidery, reclaimed textiles, paper, paint and found materials, I create one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by abandoned architecture, industrial heritage, disaster landscapes and the resilience of the natural world. My work often examines what remains after people have gone, reflecting on themes of decay, recovery and the stories embedded within places and objects.
Sustainability is central to my practice. Whenever possible I use reclaimed fabrics, threads and vintage hoops, giving discarded materials a new life while reinforcing the ideas of transformation and renewal that run throughout my work.
Over the past twenty years I have developed a distinctive artistic practice that combines traditional embroidery techniques with contemporary concepts. I am particularly interested in how textiles can communicate ideas usually associated with photography, archaeology or historical research, inviting viewers to look closely and reconsider familiar subjects through the slow, tactile process of stitch.
Alongside creating artwork, I enjoy sharing the creative process and encouraging people to see embroidery as a powerful medium for storytelling and contemporary art. Whether inspired by local architecture, environmental history or overlooked places, my aim is to create work that encourages curiosity, reflection and conversation.
