Zoe James-Williams

Artist, Writer & Art Teacher

About Me

I am a Welsh artist, writer and art teacher based in Swansea, specialising in expressive watercolour, pastel and drawing inspired by theatre, ballet, landscape and everyday life. Alongside creating my own artwork, I teach adult art classes in Mumbles and online, helping beginners and experienced artists develop confidence, observation skills and creativity in a friendly, supportive environment.

My work is particularly known for capturing movement, atmosphere and storytelling, often influenced by ballet rehearsals, theatre productions and the Welsh coastline. I was the first Artist in Residence at the Swansea Grand Theatre and have collaborated with organisations including Welsh National Opera. I am also a Derwent Art Ambassador.

Alongside my visual art, I am the author of the YA fantasy novel Dancing with Fire, combining my love of dance, theatre and fantasy storytelling. Through social media, YouTube and community projects, I enjoy sharing both the creative process and the inspiration behind my work.

My teaching focuses on encouraging people to look closely, experiment with materials and develop their own artistic voice rather than simply copying. I teach a wide range of subjects including watercolour, soft pastel, drawing, pen and wash, and mixed media.

I am passionate about supporting creativity within the local community and making art accessible, engaging and inspiring for people of all experience levels.
