Creative Swansea Launches New Digital Platform To Connect And Champion The City’s Creative Sector
Creative Swansea has launched a new digital platform to connect practitioners, organisations and businesses across Swansea’s creative and cultural ecosystem.
Shaped through in-person consultations, roundtables and sector gatherings, www.creativeswansea.com was built in direct response to what the sector told us they need: a shared digital home to find professional collaborators, to easily find opportunities and increase the scale and visibility of the sector in the region.
"Culture and creativity are central to Swansea’s identity - and they are also a growing part of our economy. From freelancers and small creative businesses to major cultural organisations, the creative sector supports jobs, skills and investment across the city and the wider region. Creative Swansea brings that cultural and economic value together in one place, making it easier for people to connect, collaborate and turn creative talent into sustainable activity that benefits our communities and our city."
— Tracey McNulty, Head of Cultural Services, Parks and Cleansing
Creative Swansea is now inviting people working in the creative and cultural sector to join the network. The website offers free membership, giving members the opportunity to create a profile, share portfolios and projects, and connect through a growing hub of events, opportunities, commissions and sector news.
The website has been funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund and is being delivered by Swansea Council, building on a programme of sector-led activity. Creative Swansea will be hosting a networking event on Wednesday 27th May (6–8pm) at the Grand Theatre, where there will be an opportunity for the Creative Swansea team to mark this occasion and be available to answer your questions. The free networking event will bring people together from across the sector to meet collaborators, swap ideas and strengthen peer connections – then continue those conversations through the new online platform.
The website has been designed as a living platform, built with the sector and shaped over time through shared input, member content and ongoing participation from the members community.
Creative Swansea supports the ambitions of Swansea’s Cultural Strategy by championing culture as both a vital part of the city’s identity and a driver of jobs, skills and sustainable economic growth across the wider region.
"Creative Swansea supports the ambitions of Swansea’s Cultural Strategy by championing culture as both a vital part of the city’s identity and a driver of jobs, skills and sustainable economic growth across the wider region. The platform reflects the strength and diversity of Swansea’s creative and cultural sector, helping practitioners and organisations connect, collaborate and access opportunities that support long term creative work and a resilient local economy."
— Nerys Evans, Strategic Manager for Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy
Creative Swansea is inviting creatives, cultural organisations and partners to play an active role – whether that’s sharing a story or project, posting an opportunity or open call, or suggesting ways the platform can better serve the sector.
